Well, November is off to a pretty solid start. Work has been a little crazy but my weekends thus far have been fun:
Nov. 2nd and 3rd: Alex had to work all day Saturday, so I had the whole day to myself. Got lunch with my friend Julie in Wicker Park at Takito Kitchen; the food is delish but we were also there to try their pumpkin margarita, which was pretty awesome. Also managed to run some errands and get my car detailed before grabbing dinner and heading home to hang with the cats. On Sunday, we headed to Pilsen to check out the Day of the Dead exhibit at the National Museum of Mexican Art. We had some delicious tamales for lunch at Día de los Tamales (I see what you did there) and got coffee and pan dulce and after seeing the exhibit.
Nov. 9th and 10th: Saturday morning, we met up with friends in the South Loop for brunch before heading to the Lacuna Lofts in Pilsen for Beer Hoptacular. We got to try some great beers, including the latest from Pipeworks, “Hey, Careful Man, There’s a Beverage Here”, a white Russian imperial stout that I’m sure even The Dude himself would have approved of. I even got to play hammerschlagen for the first time, which I had only ever heard of in passing because one of my college besties told me about it (her sister used to play this regularly in Vermont, where it’s apparently a thing?). It’s basically striking a nail with a hammer into a log; trust me, it’s way more fun when you’ve had a few drinks. Matt and Angela were the winners of their rounds; they’re posing with their swag in the picture above.
I somehow still had energy to attend a friend’s birthday dinner later that day and paint our bedroom on Sunday. Picture to come on that, because my iPhone isn’t do our new wall color any justice.
I’m honestly looking forward to a quiet weekend or two because I know Thanksgiving weekend is going to be hectic. Plus I’m ready to focus on painting and decorating our apartment.
How’s your November going so far?
