December 15: 5 Minutes
Imagine you will completely lose your memory of 2010 in five minutes. Set an alarm for five minutes and capture the things you most want to remember about 2010. (Author: Patti Digh)
Cupcakes and wine and brunches and farmer’s markets with Mai and Jackie. Movies at the Drafthouse. The final goodbye. SXSW madness and seeing bands I love (Ben Gibbard and Metric). Every day spent writing and wondering at Thunderbird Coffee. Realizing I needed to move on. Getting my 4th tattoo. Seeing Copeland for the first and last time with Kiley. The day spent at the Greenbelt. Leaving my first post-college job. The May reunion. Leaving Austin a little older and a little wiser. Heading home and clearing my head. Moving to Chicago. Enjoying summer back in the city. Learning to knit. Remembering how much I love to bake. The super epic road trip to Denver and back. Rediscovering my favorite coffee shop ever in Pilsen. Falling slightly in love with Wicker Park. The cupcake crawl! Not making a big deal out of turning 24. Dating again. Sangria Tuesdays. Adrian’s hilarious visit during homecoming weekend. Rediscovering Chicago. Loving fall. Getting a new job. Board games and booze nights at Matt’s. The first snowfall of the season. Meeting Alex.
(Side note: I actually timed myself on this and wrote out everything I could think of. In retrospect, 2010 wasn’t a terrible year, just challenging in a lot of ways.)
