When it comes to aspirations, it’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen. What’s your next step? (Author: Scott Belsky)

After sitting here, staring at my screen intently for several minutes, I’m slowly starting to realize that I may not have an answer to this question.

I had thought that moving back to Chicago was my next step. I took said step. But what’s the step after that? I honestly have no clue.

I’ve been doing a bit of thinking lately, though. About what’s next, where I’d really like to head with my career. I had always been so determined to stick to one specific path but lately, I’m wondering where exactly that path is going to lead me. Is it my current job, my current career path, or the whole 9-5 gig that I should change? I’m not exactly sure yet. But I hope to find out soon enough.

There are days when as an editor and writer, I feel like I’m still getting my feet wet. This process might take longer than I’d like, but I think I’m getting there.

So I suppose the next step is coming up with a plan filled with small, reachable goals. 2010 was a trying year, to say the least. I’m not even sure it’s going to end on a completely positive note. But 2011 has an incredible amount of potential. I’m ready to dive in headfirst.
