reverb10: find your tribe.

December 7: Community.
Where have you discovered community, online or otherwise, in 2010? What community would you like to join, create or more deeply connect with in 2011? (Author: Cali Harris)

**

As of tomorrow, I will have been living in Chicago for exactly six months.

In those six months, I have managed to meet a handful of new, great people. The amount of interest-centric groups and meetups, blogging communities and countless other possibilities are endless. But can I say that I’ve truly joined any community here? I’m not sure, which probably means that I haven’t. Not entirely, anyway.

The one community that I’ve grown quite attached to though, in terms of online, is Twitter. It’s a great platform and I love it for allowing me to meet and connect with others just by posting my thoughts and opinions in 140 characters or less.

I really do hope 2011 will show me making more strides in Chicago-based communities though. Be it a local knitting circle or a group of bloggers, I think I’m still looking for my tribe.

Actually, Sam (who works at Nina) told me about a knitting circle on Sunday afternoons at Lovely, a bakery/cafe in my ‘hood. She invited me to swing by any time and on Raverly.com, they’re called Lovely Bitches with Lovely Stitches. I haven’t checked it out yet but I’d love to soon if you wanna join. :)
Also, I miss you because I haven’t seen you in a million years. So there’s also that. Do I need to trek to the South Side for hangs?
