December 6: Make.
What was the last thing you made? What materials did you use? Is there something you want to make, but you need to clear some time for it? (Author: Gretchen Rubin)
As anyone who has read my blog may know, I’ve been dabbling in knitting since this summer.
So, the last thing I made was a mitten. Yes, a mitten. Singular.
I took my first knitting class last month at Nina and learned how to knit on the round with double pointed needles. While fun and challenging, it definitely made me long for my big, chunky pair of needles. But I managed to make a mitten, thanks to that class (and Nina’s helpful guidance a weekend later). I am pretty proud of said mitten.
However, its partner currently hangs in the balance. I haven’t made time to knit, the one thing I find relaxing, in a while. Just writing this makes me realize that I need to take an evening where I’ll just knit and have a glass of wine, like I did before my life started feeling so hectic. So hopefully soon, I’ll have a pair of mittens so that I can continue to make things as I please.
