This weekend, I got a glimpse of how amazing life can be. I saw some of my favorite people, I made new friends, I laughed and drank and danced and stayed up unbelievably late. I watched the guilty pleasure known as Eclipse and fireworks from a rooftop. I ran around the city until my feet hurt. I rode in cabs and on the blue line and the brown line and the red line. And there was not one moment that wasn’t great.
I had a moment, sitting on that stranger’s rooftop on the 4th of July, that everything can be so amazing, if I let it. And I wanted to outstretch my arms and let this city know how much I love it.
Now, I’m just hoping that the rest of the pieces are able to fall into place.
Don’t let me down, Chicago.
